Kafi is PERL's new Statistical Analyst. He also serves as a Research Assistant at Western University, focusing on temperature-related morbidity and mortality across Canada. Previously, Kafi was a biostatistician at the McGill International TB Centre, supporting research on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the private sector across multiple countries. He holds an MSc in Population and Public Health from the University of British Columbia, specializing in Biostatistics. He explored several methods of handling effect modification within the Propensity Score framework. He also holds an MSc and BSc in Applied Statistics from the University of Dhaka, where he researched Bayesian MCMC methods to analyze risk factors associated with child malnutrition based on demographic survey data and covariate response adaptive methods in clinical trials. Before coming to Canada, he was an Assistant Scientist in Emerging Infections under the Infectious Diseases Division at the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Research, Bangladesh.
